How to define the Dependency Attributes

At the Source Object Level

  1. Log in to the HTML5 client.

  2. Select the Projects Center workspace and open the Project Card.

  3. Select the Administration tab, Setup tab.

  4. In the Home Page Features section, click on Gear (GearOther) button available on the right-hand side of the Dependencies row.

  5. In the Dependencies Advanced Attributes popup dialog box:

    1. Switch on the Allow the tasks to be a source option.

    2. In the Task as Source field, select:

      1. All – Enables all tasks of the Source object to be a source.

      2. Custom – Enables only some tasks of the Source object to be a source. If so, those tasks will need to have their checkboxes ticked in the Allow Dependencies field.

        Note

This field will have to be added as a column in the Gantt spreadsheet.

Warning

Do not forget to publish the Source object.

Warning

Do not forget to give Read permissions to the Project Manager of the Target object.

At the Target Object Level

  1. Log in to the HTML5 client.

  2. Select the Projects Center workspace and open the Project Card.

  3. Select the Administration tab, Setup tab.

  4. In the Home Page Features section, click on Gear (GearOther) button available on the right hand side of the Dependencies row.

  5. In the Dependencies Advanced Attributes popup dialog box, select the Default Mapping type:

    1. Image – Information about the source (Project or Task) is displayed as symbols in the Gantt but have no interaction with the Target Task itself. This mapping type is used for informative purpose.

    2. Copy – The Target Task mirrors exactly the Source data. The Target task is overridden. Indeed, the Source (Project or Task) has a direct impact on the Target Task.

Note

Selecting a Default Mapping is not compulsory as mapping types can be chosen in the Create a New Dependency popup upon dependency creation.

Note

The defined Default Mapping type will be ignored when the "Actuals from Tracking Source Only" option is activated. In this case, users will only be allowed to create dependencies of type "Image" by default.
