The Assign Cost Items dialog box allows the user to review the allocation of potential Cost Items (taking into consideration the current project and the other published projects in the Sciforma database), and to select one or more Cost Items that fit the need(s) of the selected tasks.
The upper section of the dialog box provides the following information that enables the user to understand the context of the assignment: Project Name, Task Name, Task Start and Finish dates, Duration of the assignment, and % completion of the task.
The Assignments spreadsheet allows the user to review both current assignments (Already Assigned section) and the ones he/she is about to make (New Assignments section).
For each assignment, the following information is displayed: Cost Item Name, Rate, Total Units, and time-distributed Units.
In addition, the following commands can be displayed:
Remove | Allows the user to remove the assignment from the New Assignments section. | |
Uniform | Indicates that only uniform assignment is allowed. Upon clicking on this icon, the assignment allows non-uniform assignment. | |
Non Uniform | Indicates that non-uniform assignment is allowed. Upon clicking on it, the assignment only allows uniform assignment. | |
Edit | Allows the user to open the Cost Item Assignment dialog box. This button is only available in the New Assignments section. | |
More | Provides access to the following commands:

The list of Cost Items available for selection displays the Cost Items that have been defined in the Project Administration dialog box, Team folder, Cost Items sub-tab.
The following options are available to manage the display of the assignable cost items list:
Filters | Opens the Filters popup, which provides the following filtering options: | |
Search | Allows the user to find a specific Cost Item name in the list. | |
Sort By | Allows the user to sort the Cost Items list by Utilization (ascending order) or by Name (alphabetical order). |
For each Cost Item, the time-distributed Remaining Available Units are displayed.
Indicators are provided to highlight the Cost Item's capacity:
Green | The % Used is equal to zero. | |
Amber | The % Used is greater than 100%, meaning the Cost Item would be over-allocated if all commitments were to become actual assignments. | |
Red | The % Used is greater than 100%, meaning the Cost Item would be over-allocated if all commitments were to become actual assignments. | |
Grey | The Available Units are equal to zero. |
