Critical Path Methodology

Critical Path Methodology (CPM) is one of the basic techniques of project management. It allows Project Managers to determine when tasks can take place, and what the effect on the overall project will be if something happens to affect the schedule. Because it places tasks in a timeline, it is also used as the basis for planning budgets and for scheduling resource requirements. Even in fairly straightforward projects, the technique can be extremely useful and for complex projects, it is almost indispensable. Indeed, it serves as the basis for a range of project control operations including budgeting and performance measurement.
