Objectives workspace

The Objectives workspace allows the user to manage the selected Objectives.

Settings

Only Objectives for which the logged-in user is Manager 1, 2, or 3 will be available for selection, unless the logged-in user has been defined as a Contributor in the Strategy Definition dialog box; in that case, all the Objectives will be displayed.

Header

The header section provides the following read-only information regarding the selected Objective:

Name

Indicates the name of the Objective.

Description

Gives the description of the Objective.

Final Weight

Indicates the final weight of the Objective, which is calculated as the average value of the weights of the Objective’s tree branch, taking into account all the parents of the Objective.

Manager 1

Indicates the person in charge of the Objective.

KPI

Indicates the Name of the KPI.

KPI Target

Indicates the value needed to be reached for the Objective to be considered as completed.

Current

Indicates the Current value of the KPI.

Health

Provides the Objective's Health indicator.

Workflow State

Indicates the Objective Workflow State.

In addition, the following tools are available:

Provides access to the following commands:

  • Edit – Opens the Objective dialog box, allowing the user to modify the Objective’s attributes.

Sub-Objectives sub-tab

The Sub-Objectives sub-tab allows the user to review as well as create sub-objectives for the selected Objective.

Settings

The ability to create sub-objectives is conditioned by the “Enable Sub-Objective Creation in Objectives View” setting, available in the System Settings workspace, Strategy and Benefits Settings folder.

Each Objective is displayed in the form of a card, which can have different information displayed depending on the Objective’s hierarchical level and the options set in the Strategy Definition dialog box.

The sections displayed in the cards can be the following:

Name

Indicates the name of the Objective.

Description

Gives the description of the Objective.

Final Weight

Indicates the final weight of the Objective, which is calculated as the average value of the weights of the Objective’s tree branch, taking into account all the parents of the Objective.

Manager 1

Indicates the person in charge of the Objective.

KPI

Indicates the Name of the KPI.

KIP Progress

Indicates the KPI completion (i.e., the ratio between the Current and the Target values).

Portfolio & Projects

Indicates the number of Projects and Portfolio Folders that are attached to the Objective.

Reminder: Projects and Portfolio Folders can only be attached at the lowest Objective level.

Workflow State

Indicates the Objective Workflow State.

The cards can also display the following tools:

IndentGrey

Indent

Allows the user to move the Objective to one level lower in the hierarchy.

OutdentGrey

Outdent

Allows the user to move the Objective to one level higher in the hierarchy.

MoveGrey

Move

Provides the following commands:

  • Move Up – Moves the item up in the list.

  • Move Down – Moves the item down in the list.

Create

Provides the following commands:

  • Insert as child – Allows the user to create a new sub-objective (i.e., at one level lower than the selected Objective). This command is only available for Objectives whose level is other than 5 and have no Project and/or Portfolio attached.

  • Create at the same level – Allows the user to create a new objective at the same hierarchical level as the selected Objective.

Allows the user to change the Objective's Workflow State.

Indicates whether or not there are new notes, and opens the Notes dialog box.

Provides access to the following commands:

  • History – Opens the Objective’s Workflow Information dialog box.

  • Mark as Archived – Allows the user to indicate the selected Objective as Archived. As a consequence, the Objective will be displayed only when the Show Archived (ShowHide) display option is active, with the level number struck out in red. Note: A parent Objective can only be archived if all the corresponding sub-objectives have been archived.

  • Unmark as Archived – Undoes the “Mark as Archived” action.

  • Edit – Opens the Objective dialog box, allowing the user to modify the Objective’s attributes.

  • Delete – Allows the user to delete the corresponding Objective.

Portfolio Folders sub-tab

The Portfolio Folders sub-tab allows the user to manage the Portfolio Folders attached to the currently selected Objective.

This sub-tab is only available for Objectives at the lowest level of the hierarchy.

Toolbar

The Portfolio Folders sub-tab toolbar provides the following tools:

Attach Portfolio

Provides access to the following commands:

  • Add a Portfolio Folder – Prompts the user to select one Portfolio Folder to attach to the selected Objective. Once the Portfolio Folder selected, the Attach to Objective popup allows the user to enter the Target and Current values the Portfolio Folder should reach to complete the Objective.

  • Add multiple Portfolio Folders – Prompts the user to select several Portfolio Folders to attach to the selected Objective.

FilterGrey

Enable Filters

Provides access to the Filters popup.

ShowHide

Show Completed

Allows the user to display or hide Portfolio Objectives that have been marked as Completed.

Upon clicking on the Filters (FilterGrey) button located in the toolbar, the Filters popup is displayed.

On the right-hand side of the popup, a list of the filter categories is displayed (the categories may differ depending on the tab selected). When one of the categories has at least one active filter, a blue icon (Icon_Checkmark_Circle_Blue.png) is displayed next to it.

Portfolio section

Managed By

Allows the user to only display Portfolio Folders whose Manager 1 has been selected from the User list.

Health Score ≥

Allows the user to display only Portfolio Folders whose Health Score is higher than or equal to the entered value.

Health Score ≤

Allows the user to display only Portfolio Folders whose Health Score is below or equal to the entered value.

Objective section

Thumbs___Positive.png

Good

Allows the user to display only Portfolio Objectives whose health indicator is “Good”.

Thumbs___Neutral.png

Must Improve

Allows the user to display only Portfolio Objectives whose health indicator is “Must Improve”.

Thumbs___Negative.png

Not Good

Allows the user to display only Portfolio Objectives whose health indicator is “Not Good”.

The user can access the legend of the colored indicators by clicking on the Legend (Legend) button located in the bottom right corner of the view.

Settings

The Objective Health indicator's colors are defined by the Administrator in the System Settings workspace, General Settings folder, Colored Indicators tab, Objective Health Preferences.

Portfolio Folder cards

Each attached Portfolio Folder is represented in the form of a card that provides the following information and tools:

Portfolio Folder Information section

Name

Indicates the Name of the Portfolio Folder.

Manager 1

Indicates the person in charge of the Portfolio Folder.

Projects

Indicates the number of projects belonging to the Portfolio Folder.

Health Score

Indicates the Portfolio Health Score.

Project Objectives tile

Number of projects

Indicates the number of Projects belonging to the Portfolio Folder that contribute to the same Objective.

Details

Opens the Portfolio Project Details dialog box.

Current tile

The display of the Current tile will differ depending on the options selected in the Strategy Definition dialog box.

When there is no tracking feature, the Completed indicator will be displayed. It allows the user to mark and unmark the Portfolio Objective as completed by clicking on the Checkmark icon.

When the tracking is made directly at the Portfolio Folder level, the Current tile displays the following information:

  • Objective Current value

  • Objective Health Indicator

  • Objective Target value

  • Edit – Opens the Track Values popup.

  • Objective Current value

The Projects sub-tab allows the user to manage the projects attached to the currently selected Objective.

This sub-tab is only available for Objectives at the lowest level of the hierarchy.

The Projects sub-tab toolbar provides the following tools:

Attach Project

Provides access to the following commands:

  • Add a Project – Prompts the user to select one project to attach to the selected Objective. Once the project selected, the Attach to Objective popup allows the user to define the Alignment level, as well as the Target and Current values for the project(s) to attach. In addition, the user can also define whether or not he/she wants to flag the project objective.

  • Add multiple Projects – Prompts the user to select several Projects to attach to the selected Objective.

FilterGrey

Enable Filters

Provide access to the Filters popup.

ShowHide

Show Completed

Allows the user to display or hide Project Objectives that have been marked as Completed.

Managed By

Allows the user to only display projects whose Manager 1 has been selected.

Status

Allows the user to display projects depending on their Status (Active, Inactive, or both).

Health Score ≥

Allows the user to display only projects whose Health Score is below or equal to the entered value.

Health Score ≤

Allows the user to display only projects whose Health Score is higher than or equal to the entered value.

Objective section

Alignment Level

Allows the user to display only projects whose Alignment Level has been selected.

Strategy Score ≥

Allows the user to only display projects whose Strategic Alignment Score is higher than or equal to the entered value.

Strategy Score ≤

Allows the user to only display projects whose Strategic Alignment Score is below or equal to the entered value.

Flag

Allows the user to only display projects whose Flag ("As Critical", "As Warning", or "No Flag") has been selected.

Allows the user to display only Project Objectives whose health indicator is “Good”.

Project cards

Project Information section

Nature

Indicates the Nature of the project.

Workflow State

Indicates the Workflow State of the project.

Name

Indicates the Name of the project. Upon clicking on it, the corresponding Project Brief dialog box is displayed.

Manager

Indicates the person in charge of the project.

Completion

Indicates the number of days before or beyond the project’s Finish date.

Labor Effort & Cost

Indicates the project’s Total Effort and Total Cost.

Health Score

Indicates the project’s Health Score. Upon clicking on it, the Health Score Details popup is displayed.

Alignment tile

The Alignment tile display differs depending on the options selected in the Strategy Definition dialog box.

When the Strategy Alignment feature is deactivated, the Alignment tile is not displayed.

When the Strategy Alignment is enabled and the “Project Management” option is set to “Manual”, the Alignment tile displays the following information:

  • Alignment Level – Indicates how much the Project is aligned with the Objective.

  • Alignment Score – Represents a combination of the Alignment level and the Corporate Objective’s Final Weight.

  • Edit – Opens the Edit Alignment Value popup, allowing the user to define the Alignment level.

Current tile

The Current tile display differs depending on the options selected in the Strategy Definition dialog box.

Settings

The “Enabled User Roles for Project Objective Target and Current Modification” setting, available in the System Settings workspace, Strategy and Benefits Settings folder, defines which users can edit information in the Current tile.

In addition, the following tools are provided in the upper right corner of the card:

FlagGrey

Grey Flag

Indicates that the Project Objective is not flagged. Upon clicking on it, the following commands are available:

  • Flag as Warning – Turns the flag icon orange, warning the user regarding the ability of the project to meet the Objective on time.

  • Flag as Critical – Turns the flag icon red, issuing the strongest warning to the user regarding the ability of the project to meet the Objective on time.

FlagOrange

Orange Flag

Indicates that the Project Objective is flagged as a Warning. Upon clicking on it, the following commands are available:

  • Remove Flag – Turns the flag icon grey.

  • Flag as Critical – Turns the flag icon red, issuing the strongest warning to the user regarding the ability of the project to meet the Objective on time.

Red Flag

Indicates that the Project Objective is flagged as Critical. Upon clicking on it, the following commands are available:

  • Remove Flag – Turns the flag icon grey.

Idea Information section

Name

Indicates the Name of the Idea.

Originator

Indicates the name the user who created the Idea.

Type

Indicates the Idea’s Type.

Total Score

Indicates the sum of the Idea Evaluation Score and the corresponding Strategic Alignment Score.

Idea Folder

Indicates the folder the Idea belongs to.

Alignment tile

The Alignment tile display differs depending on the options selected in the Strategy Definition dialog box.

When the Strategy Alignment feature is deactivated, the Alignment tile is not displayed.
